AW2026/2027 begins with the Tang dynasty, an age of openness and confidence. The converging cultures shaped art that moved with scale and ease and nurtured a presence of calm freedom. From this abundance emerged a spirit both expansive and assured, the cultural foundation of Carved by Motion thus formed. 

 

With spring excursions during the Tang dynasty serving as clues, the fluidity of “dance” and the refinement of “jade” in this season illustrate how femininity is formed through rhythm and movement, and sculpts the self through motion, demonstrating inner harmonious resilience with softness and strength. 

 

The runway unfolds like a moving scroll painting traversing the grandeur of the Tang dynasty. Palace-style excursions and landscape paintings are slowly revealed with every step the models take; garments flow with ease as lines and colors echo the flourishing spirit of the era, rewriting the elegance of the Tang in a contemporary voice.

 

The overall silhouette is rooted in Tang dynasty structure, drawing inspiration from ruqun and high-waisted proportions. Vertical lines define the body, while the contrast between a shortened upper body and elevated waist transforms wrapped skirts into belt-like expressions that articulate the chest and neckline. The primary palette draws inspiration from Tang landscape paintings and spring excursion scenes, coupled with further reference to Tang Sancai. Centered on tones of orange, green, and gold, the palette expresses the openness and grandeur of the Tang dynasty; while contrasts of white-green and white-red referencing the layered hues of jadeite cabbage and preserved snow mustard bring out the luminous clarity within the warm jade. Balancing brightness and restraint, the overall palette reflects both the grandeur and cultural confidence of the Tang dynasty. 

 

The spiritual emblem of the season is jade, ranging from small jade inlays embedded into brushed denim, gently humming with movement and lending everyday fabrics a softened glow of jade, to larger jade donuts buckled close as symbols of protection. Original motifs inspired by landscapes, deer, and palace-style excursions transform jacquards into wearable scroll paintings. Hibiscus, peony, and roundel florals evoke abundance and continuous flow, while metallic textures and yarn introduce dimensional contrasts between warmth and coolness. Men's collection continues the abundance and grandeur of the era, employing engraved embroidery and distressed finishing to imprint traces of time onto fabric. Suits with belt, squared raglan sleeves, and Oriental-style trimmed pockets create details that are strong yet restrained, while small jade embellishments and fur accents at collars and cuffs evoke mural-like textures, balancing historical resonance with contemporary tailoring. 

 

The round and harmonious spirit of jade is extended into accessories. The circular form of jade donuts, jade beads, jade discs, and jade bangles symbolizes continuity, harmony, and protection, allowing necklaces to be transformed into brooches. Several new handbags this season include elongated bags inspired by jade bangles that appear in scarab green, red, and white, enriched with landscape motifs and yarm couching stitch, turning the bags into portable scenes. Cosmetic bags combine jade handles with mirrored accents, while ingot-shaped bags rendered in soft mohair express warmth and volume, referencing the decorative spirit of paintings in the Tang dynasty. Footwear draws inspiration from Tang flat-shoe structures, from flats and sneakers to wrapped-strap heels, redefining classical proportions for contemporary movement.
